Altinkum / Didim

The resort of Altinkum/Didim is located on the shore of the Aegean sea and it is a friendly family resort with many visitors returning year after year.

The name of Altinkum means “Golden Sand” and when you see the beautiful beaches which gently shelve into the inviting turquoise blue Aegean, you will understand where it gets it name from.

Didim gets it name from the ancient “Didyma” and is the centre of Altinkum Didim Region.

The local people are very friendly, they enjoy talking with you and offering Turkey’s famous apple tea or a cup of turkish coffee. After your first visit you will find yourself coming back year after year.

In Altinkum there are three beaches and all of them are ideal for children and non-swimmers too, as the water is shallow and clear. There are also excellent facilities for those who love water sports and all at a reasonable price. For those who prefer a pace of life bit slower there are the pedals. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent at the beaches and once you are settled you can stay and enjoy until the sunset.

In the summer season there are organized daily boat trips from the harbour, you can spend a lovely day by visiting islands and bays. If you wish a bit of change, you can visit a beautiful Greek island Kos by a ferry from Altinkum (only during the summer months). Diving courses and fishing tours are also available.
In Altinkum you will find a numerous tourism & travel agencies which are offering organized tours, airport transfers and rent a car services.

Every Saturday there is a weekly market in Altinkum. You can buy there fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and a huge variety of things (clothes, shoes etc.).
The main shopping center is at the Dolphin Square near the centre of the resort. There are also many small shops located on the seafront, which are open until late at night.
You can also find here supermarkets, the biggest ones are Carrefour, Migros and Tansas.

In Altinkum you will find many great restaurants offering you traditional Turkish meals and also offering British, Chinese, Italian or Indian food.  The nightlife in Altinkum is excellent, you will find many bars and nightclubs.

Local attractions:
Temple of Apollon is a superb example of architecture dating from the Graeco-Roman period, and a sign of grandeur of this area, outstanding for culture and art.

Fun fair in Altinkum - is located on the seafront, between the main beach and the marina. The children will love it. It is open only in the summer season.

Aquapark - is located just 20 min. by car/bus, with regular bus service.

Akbuk

Akbuk means “White Bay” and it is set in a beautiful natural environment by the sea and is surrounded by forest with olive and pine trees. The town is located between Bodrum and Didim/Altinkum.

Akbuk became a township in 1991 and is developing quite nicely but it is not busy compared to places like Altinkum/Didim, Bodrum or Kusadasi. This little town is untouched and unspoiled by the major tourist industry.

Akbuk has many small beaches and bays, the sea is clean, safe and warm.
Akbuk with its calm beaches is a perfect choice for those who love quiet times and would like to relax and find an escape from the busy and stressing life.

The local fishermen are offering you boat trips along the coasts of Akbuk visiting islands and bays for the duration of the summer months. They are also offering fishing trips and you can try your luck for a sea bass or sea bream.

The range of water sports are available for a fee in the summer season.

There is a growing number of restaurants and café bars. Many restaurants and bars are having music and entertainment. They offer traditional Turkish meals and also British tasty steaks and other meals.

Every Friday there is an open air weekly market where you can buy many kind of things, such as fresh fruit, vegetables, etc. Also you can get leather goods, clothes, household items, rugs and much more.
Akbuk has a variety of shops and supermarkets where you can find everything for your daily needs, hairdressers, barbers, furniture, household, clothes, Internet cafés, chemist, dentist etc.

70 km from Bodrum (Milas) airport
140 km from Izmir airport
20 km from Altinkum/Didim – with regular cheap bus service.

Yesilkent

Yesilkent – “Green City” is right on the tip of the peninsula.
The village of Yesilkent is located just 20 minutes walk from Altinkum.You can also get there by car or bus service, which are passing very often.
This area is presently known as the “elite area of Didim”, as there is not allowed to build any apartment blocks. The properties here are mostly tasteful quality villas set in quiet, mature residential streets. You can walk within minutes to the beach.

This area is famous for it’s quiet bays and green view.
Yesilkent has a beautiful beach with crystal clear water offering few water sports. There is a little café/restaurant on the beach where you can get some snack.
You will also find here some local shops and restaurants.
Perfect place for those who would like to relax and enjoy the quiet and piece of this beautiful area.

Mavisehir

Mavisehir means “Blue City” and has got breath taking views of the Aegean sea and is especially popular for sunsets.
It is a small seaside village with authentic Turkish feel. Mavisehir with its beautiful beach is ideal for people who are looking for a relaxing break.

If you are on holiday, you shouldn’t miss to have a delicious meal at the restaurants offering fresh fish. There are many bars and restaurants with tasty food.

There is daily market starting from morning until late at night offering you lot of souveniers and huge variety of items.

Mavisehir is located just 15 minutes drive from the resort of Altinkum/Didim. (Regular bus service is available.)
